Prag(ue)matism

Back from the freezing temperatures of Prague and ready to turn this site into something more!

One year has passed since the start of this lil’ idea, and I can’t be more happy about how this turned out. I saw the evolution of the initial purpose of a pure exercise into becoming something more related to what I would like to express with photography on on how I approach this discipline.
So I can’t just let it die after this first rush. This year lasting project has got to become a “years lasting project”.

That being said, we got to catch up on the recent trip, which led me to prague accompanied by my tender model. Temperatures were about -3°C during the day and -9°C as soon as the sun decided to hide, so we kinda had to keep rollin’ to avoid freezing.

We have been welcomed by a pale blue sky, with breezy wind scratching our faces. There wasn’t any real snow covering the city at first; little did we know a snowstorm was on its way.

Prague seemed like a small city from the map, but it has hundreds of hidden streets made to wander. This lil’ head is somewhere close to the city hall, and it had to be spinning but was probably broken during our time. It represents Franz Kafka, since he was native from the city, and has been used as a sort of symbol for it, as Gaudì is for Barcelona.

The river is populated by swans and ducks, which are feeded by tourists and locals with bread and wasted food from restaurants. Close to the most famous bridge of the city there’s a feeding spot, a sort of feathered-only cafeteria.

We moved around the main feeding spot, slipping and climbing on the wet rocks, to take a break from the throng and really start feeling the city.

Touring the Christmas markets we got caught by the primeval sound of folk music, going up the stream of sound we found these guys.

As said, the pale blue sky of the morning was just an illusion, a snowstorm caught and froze us shortly after the previous picture, forcing a retreat to the warmer rooms of our soviet era hotel.

The subways are deeply carved in the ground, with steep and fast auto scales.

There’s a castle in Prague, with a beautiful park and a tower, which-resembles-the-Eiffel-tower-but-hey-it-was-made-on-purpose. Cool thing is we got caught by another snowstorm as we were climbing the 300 hundreds and so steps.

Keep in mind this sky and the depth of field of the view, you’re going to miss it in a few moments.

The beautiful color of the church was dreamily exalted by the rushing snowflakes.

And puff, in 20 minutes the storm passed. We got back to clear sky and reached the southern part of the city in the evening, where we discovered one of the most beaufitul cathedrals of the city.

Probably one of the most beautiful sculptures in the whole city, the tenderness of the hand of Mary is heartbreaking.

On our last day we have been graced by a beautiful sunset, shining a golden light to the beautiful pearl which is Prague.

That’s it for now!

I hope you didn’t lose any hope waiting for this update, it is going to be another great year.
